Performing Arts Director Biography:
Steven is a singer/actor/teacher who currently resides in Southern, Florida.
A native of New Jersey, Steven spent the majority of his upbringing in and out of New York City. Having moved directly to the Big Apple after completing college, he spent 12 years traveling and exploring 4 continents while performing various singing roles in musical theater as well as working in film and television on both coasts of the USA.
Steven loves all things music and is equally at ease teaching a classroom full of students, singing at church, troubleshooting technology or directing and choreographing a show.
He is a proud member in good standing with the Actors Equity Association and Screen Actors Guild and holds degrees of Science in Management Information Systems and Middle School Mathematics Education. Steven attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and was selected on multiple occasions to perform in final demonstrations, specifically in the area of musical theatre. He studied classical dance on work-study scholarship at STEPs on Broadway dance studio in NYC where he supported workshops of the long-running revival of the Broadway musical “Chicago”. He has also danced in workshops for Broadway Dance Center and New York University School of Education.
Steven traveled the USA for over a year on the bus and truck National Tour of Joseph and Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, understudying and often performing the title role. Other notable credits include Grease (Brazilian Tour), Miss Saigon (North Shore Music Theatre), and title roles in Pippin (Cumberland Playhouse), George M! (Union County Arts Center) and Joseph... (Theatre by the Sea).
His singing career has stretched the furthest milage starting from Carnegie Hall during his senior year of college. Steven has sung in some of the most beautiful opera houses in Western Europe as well as a Broadway Revue at the National Theatre of Taiwan. He has studied performance privately with Tony Award Winners Helen Gallagher and Lillias White.
In 2006 Steven signed on with Jean Ann Ryan productions to sing the Principal Vocal Track for Cameron Mackintosh's Hey, Mr. Producer! aboard the M.S. Norwegian Sun. He spent 10 months at sea exploring Alaska, Vancouver, the Mexican Riviera, the Panama Canal, Aruba, Costa Rica, Belize, and New Orleans.
In 2007, Steven relocated to Southern Florida and has been teaching several years in the Palm Beach County School System. During this time he has continued his professional development by achieving certifications in Special Needs Education, Drama 6-12 and Mathematics 6-12.
In 2011, Steven joined the marketing team at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, Florida’s largest not-for-profit professional theatre, for their 10 year anniversary. He also began his dream career with Apple Inc. where he was promoted to the coveted “Creative” Trainer retail role that culminated with a trip to Cupertino, CA for a week of teaching strategies using Apple technology.
He currently serves as the Performing Arts Director and Thespian Troupe 3963 sponsor at Spanish River High School in Boca Raton, Florida.
